General Information

Welcome to the Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church Japanese Language School New Student Application. Please read below for important admission and registration information. Please complete one application per student (there is an option at the end of the application for easy enrollment of another child.)

The student's Japanese proficiency and aptitude will be a consideration of acceptance into the school. We then take the student's application and current class enrollment to best match the student to the right class. In some instances, class selection are changed during that school year based on the teacher's recommendations.

Please fill out all Japanese Language background information fields. These answers will be used by our teachers to determine student class placement.

JLS Track Information

Bilingual

Bilingual courses are for native Japanese speakers where Japanese is spoken in the home. Bilingual courses (i.e., B1 beginner, B2 intermediate, B3 proficient, B4 advanced) are full Japanese immersion course.

Japanese

Japanese course are for non-native Japanese speakers tailored to students where Japanese is not spoken at home. Japanese courses (i.e., J1 beginner, J2 intermediate, J3 proficient, J4 advanced) are taught in a mixture of English and Japanese.

What's next?

We will notify parents of applicants whom we can enroll for school year 2024-2025 via e-mail before July 31, 2024. Thereafter, additional students that we can accommodate will be contacted as the space become available.

Upon confirmation of student admission, registration forms will be emailed to parents in the Mid-August. Registration forms will need to be returned at Orientation on the first day of school. During Orientation, we will collect registration forms, payments, and go over school policies and Co-Op requirements, therefore parent(s) attendance on the first day of school is required.

New Family Application Form Fees

1. If the new student applies **AND** is officially accepted but does not register their child on the first day of the term (i.e., August 24, 2024), then the $105 application fee is forfeited and will not be refunded.

2. If the new student applies **AND** is officially accepted and registers their child on the first day of the term, then $100 of the $105 application fee will be applied to the fees that are due on this first day (minus $5 to offset the credit card fees.)

3. If the new student applies **BUT** is not officially accepted, then $100 of the $105 of the application will be refunded (minus $5 to offset the credit card fees)

Tuition

School fees are affected by several factors and are subject to change before the start of the 2024-2025 school year. All annual fees are due on August 24, 2024 (first day of school).

2024 - 2025 Fee Schedule (subject to change prior to first day of school)

• Annual Southern Alameda County Buddhist Church Membership (Non-church member): $230.00 per student / $300.00 per family
• Monthly Pledge/Tuition (10 months**): $100.00 per student / $80.00 each additional student
• Monthly High School Language Credit for Fremont Unified School District Only (Optional; 10 months): $100.00 per student
• Annual Family Co-Op participation deposit: $300.00 per family
• Annual School Supplies & Church Activity Donation: $35 per family
• Course Book & Material Fees: Collected as needed

** Annual Pledge Payment recieves 5% discount (on tuition) if fully paid on August 24, 2024 (first day of school)
